This year in Gr. 4 Math we have learned that multiplication and division are related operations. We learned that division is basically the opposite of multiplication, and that this is called inverse operations. We can show this in the picture below.
In division, we have learned the "Bring-Down" method, which is similar to the way our parents learned how to do long division, but they've mostly forgotten how to do it.
We have also learned how to verify our work using inverse operations. This is checking over your work to make sure it's correct using the opposite operation. If you're asked to divide two numbers, you can use the answer (quotient) and multiply it by the divisor and if your answer is correct, it will equal the dividend.
Next we will be learning about decimals and fractions - we learned a little bit about these in Gr. 3 and are interested in learning more this year.
